Event Details

Fact or fiction? Pioneer or Prevaricator? How do museums tell stories with objects? How do we know that these stories are true? Could objects and artefacts be interpreted differently or used to tell a different story? Are Museums neutral? Who decides what stories are told in the Museum of Gloucester?

If you had to pick one object on you right now, to put in a Museum, what story would it tell about you? What would you tell an 11 year old about it in 50 words or less?

As part of City Voices, the Museum of Gloucester will be holding workshops, hosted by Hannah Thomson and the Engagement Team to ask you these questions to create the Museum of Me! Your object will be photographed and exhibited alongside a label, written by you and guided by Museum principles of Interpretation.

The Museum of Me will ask you to share an everyday object you carry and wear and how they represent you and your story. We will work with you to question how your object could be displayed and exhibited in a Museum of the Future and what story it may tell to future generations, fact or fiction…

Contact to book an education session or send in your photo of your Museum of Me object and label
