Event Details

The Folk of Gloucester is a community heritage centre with exhibition and event spaces and is housed in some of the oldest buildings in the City of Gloucester, This unique row of half-timbered buildings is made up of two early 16th century Tudor houses and a mid 17th-century town house. Together they are called Bishop Hooper House.

Unfortunately, due to Fire Safety Regulations we are only able to open the ground floor of The Folk of Gloucester to visitors as the other floors have restricted access. However, if you book a Guided Tour you will see the whole building, hear the stories of the people who lived and worked there and also what the future plans are for Bishop Hooper House.

Tours are at 10.30am and 2pm on Friday, Saturday and Monday and 11.30am on Sunday and are limited to 10 people. Bookings for these must be made via the Gloucester History Festival website event listing.

Our café will be open offering a great range of teas and coffees and local delights.

On Saturday we will be holding a food market highlighting the fantastic produce available in Gloucester and beyond,

There will be a display of work by ‘Shadowed Eyes’ as part of the History Festival. Also an exhibition of Gloucester Notables.

Heritage talks will be held in the Ed Shed at various times over the weekend.
