Few things provoke more public interest and anxiety than sex and religion. In the first event exploring his eagerly-awaited new book, Oxford Professor and prize-winning BBC2 broadcaster Diarmaid MacCulloch explores one of the most controversial topics in history.

He tells a 3,000-year-old tale looking at how Christianity has shaped Western attitudes to sex, gender and sexuality. He traces the 11th century introduction of marriage into the Christian church, the seismic events of the Reformation and how in the last century, in just a single life-time, there have followed revolutions in the place of women in society and same-sex love.

Join him for a compelling exploration of a subject that has challenged the church for three millennia – and continues to do so today.
