Event Details

Florence Li Tim-Oi was the first woman to be ordained in the Anglican Church, while the question of women’s ordination was still hotly debated. This talk tells her story, from working with refugees in Macau to surviving China’s Cultural Revolution, a journey both extraordinary and inspiring. Her legacy lives on today in the Florence Li Tim-Oi Foundation, supporting women around the world to make change in their communities.

Christina is a writer, commentator and practical theologian. She has been a Trustee of the Li Tim-Oi Foundation for 24 years and is currently the Acting Chair. Christina was a member of the General Synod for 25 years and a founder member of the Archbishops’ Council. She Chaired WATCH (Women and the Church) for many years and was at the forefront of the campaign for women bishops. In 2016 Christina was awarded a CBE for services to the Church of England.
